Saplings and young trees

Well today I’m finishing off the pruning of the maple. Pruning maple and birch now, avoids fungus setting in. As long as you don’t carve the tree up. As this is a young tree my hacksaw is perfect, but there are various expensive pruning saws available.

Three cut method:

I made a cut underneath the branch and then another over the top. The final cut was a quarter of an inch from the trunk. Just incase you are unable to watch the video. This prevents tearing and encourages a nicely healed wound

I’ve kept one leading branch, as there were two.
All done. Plenty of room for growth.
